Overton County Sheriff's Office PREA Policy
The Overton County Sheriff's Office maintains a ZERO TOLERANCE towards any form of sexual abuse or sexual harassment inside the facility. Such conduct is PROHIBITED and will not be tolerated. This includes inmate on inmate sexual abuse or harassment. All allegations, regardless of source, will be investigated and violations could result in disciplinary action and/or criminal prosecution. Alleged victims of sexual abuse or harassment will be provided a supportive and protective environment.
Right To Report
If you, or someone you know, are experiencing sexual abuse or sexual harassment, Overton County Sheriff's Department wants to know. We want you to report right away! Why?
- We want to keep YOU safe; it is our job! It is your right to be free from sexual abuse and sexual harassment.
- We want to conduct an investigation of the reported incident.
- We want to hold the perpetrator accountable for his/her actions.
- We want to provide YOU with relevant information and support services.
How To Report
Overton County Sheriff's Department offers multiple ways to report sexual abuse and sexual harassment. Reports can be made anonymously.
- Call Genesis House at (800)707-5197
- Report to any staff, volunteer, contractor or medical staff.
- Submit a grievance under the PREA option or sick call slip.
- Report to the PREA coordinator.
- Tell a family member, friend, legal counsel, or anyone else outside the facility. They can report on your behalf by calling (931)823-5635.
- You also can submit a report on someone's behalf, or someone at the facility can report for you using the ways listed here.

Overton County Sheriff's Department has partnered with Genesis House to provide survivors of sexual abuse with emotinoal support services. To access these services, contact:
